Shamley Green
This beautiful, high status medieval home, was once a place of considerable importance. Over the centuries, successive owners, keen to display their wealth and rank had enlarged and improved the building, in line with the fashions of the time and with no expense spared, in order to augment and decorate the interior, so that the building made a continuing, very public statement of their positions within the higher echelons of society.
During a programme of extensive conservation, the modern day farmhouse, revealed a plethora of original and rare architectural features and decorative details, which spoke to the importance of the buildings history and its place in the heritage of the local and wider landscape.
